Accounting Scholarships

Here are some of the Accounting scholarships on our site for which you may qualify.

North Carolina Association of CPAs

For college accounting majors. Amount: $1,000 each, awarded annually at the discretion of the NC CPA Foundation. Requirements: Students must be residents of North Carolina; have completed at least one upper division accounting program in a North Carolina college or university; be at least a fifth semester (or equivalent) student; be enrolled in an accounting course at the time the scholarship is awarded; be sponsored by two accounting faculty members; have an overall and accounting GPA of at least 3.0; and submit a typed essay on Why I want to be a certified public accountant.

NDSCPA Society Board of Directors Scholarship

The Society provides a Board of Directors Scholarship. To be considered for the award, applications are to be filed by Oct. 31. The award has a value of $1000, and will be presented during the Fall semester. The recipient must be an NDCPAS student member or affiliate, who intends to write the CPA Exam and become a CPA. Applicants are to provide a narrative (under 150 words) about why they are pursuing the CPA credential. Applicants are to apply online, and must have completed Intermediate Accounting by the time of application. From among the applicants, finalists will be selected based the narrative content, and such preference items as Society involvement, and intent to pursue a career in North Dakota.

Ohio Society of CPAs

For college accounting majors. Amount: Chapter based program. Some chapters offer more than the $500 state match, but this program is changing. Requirements: Chapter selects college student with their own criteria.

Outstanding Accounting Student Award

Student Scholarships (Outstanding Accounting Student Award): For accounting students at a four-year college/university. Amount: $500 or more Requirements: Students must be juniors or seniors, have completed 60 credit hours, and be currently enrolled in or completed Intermediate Accounting II. Carl W. Christiansen Scholarship

The late Carl W. Christiansen, CPA established a scholarship fund in 1974. The purpose of this fund was to assist students who hope to join the public accounting profession, by granting scholarships to help defray the cost of a college education. Criteria for Applicants • Applicants must be a legal resident of the State of Rhode Island. • Applicant must be a citizen of the United States. • Applicant must have expressed an interest in public accounting during any of her undergraduate/graduate years - matriculating years. • Applicant must obtain an overall academic average of 3.0 on a scale of four or its equivalent and in the opinion of the Accounting Department faculty, demonstrate the potential to become a valued member of the Public Accounting Profession. Guidelines • Complete the application in full. Use the reverse side if additional space is necessary. • Submit a short (less than 1 page) typewritten memo illustrating your interest in Public Accounting. • Submit a copy of your transcript. • Submit a letter of recommendation from a member of the Accounting Faculty at your school. • Submit proof of BOTH: U.S. Citizenship and Rhode Island Residency. o Examples: Naturalization papers, birth certificate, copy of driver’s license, state-issued identification card. • Finalists may be requested to attend a personal interview with member of the RI Society of CPAs.

South Carolina Association of CPAs

For South Carolina resident, accounting student in a South Carolina college/ university. Amount: Ranges from $500 to $1,000 Requirements: A college junior or senior or a master's degree student with an overall GPA of 3.25 and an accounting GPA of 3.5.

Accounting Program Completion Scholarship

Sponsored by the South Dakota CPA Society, this scholarship is targeted at students who are nearing completion of the 150 hours required to be a qualified CPA exam candidate and pursuing a major in accountancy. Maximum value of scholarship is lesser of tuition of a full time student based on the current Board of Regent set tuition for a state school at the base resident rate or $7,500. Completed 90 credit hours by application date Meet the eligibility requirements of the Excellence in Accounting Scholarship Application Requirements: Complete the Excellence in Accounting Scholarship application form Fulfill the Excellence in Accounting Scholarship requirements Submit a 1 page essay on why you chose accounting as your major along with the reason you are applying for and should be awarded this scholarship Agree to the stipulations of the scholarship

Tennessee Society of CPAs Scholarship Program

In the past 20 years, the Educational & Memorial Foundation of the Tennessee Society of CPAs has provided more than $2 million in scholarships to deserving Tennessee accounting students. Scholarships are available to students who have completed introductory accounting courses and are majoring in accounting. The committee's goal is to encourage students to enter the accounting profession. Only students who are residents of Tennessee, U.S. citizens and attend a Tennessee school are eligible for this scholarship. Check the website for updates on application deadline.

Vermont Society of CPAs

For accounting students Amount: One $1,500 to one student Requirements: Junior in four-year school, GPA, financial status, recommendation from faculty, etc.

Dixon Hughes Goodman Scholarship

Two scholarships of $2,000 each are funded by Dixon Hughes Goodman. Eligibility: Must be enrolled in the Fall semester as a junior, senior or "fifth year" undergraduate, or graduate accounting major with the intent to take the CPA Exam. Must demonstrate a minimum overall and accounting GPA of 3.0. All applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements: U.S. citizenship Successful completion of 3 credit hours of accounting prior to the Fall semester Current enrollment in an accredited Virginia college or university with the intent to pursue a degree in accounting Enrollment in an accredited Virginia college or university accounting program in the Fall semester

VSCPA Undergraduate Accounting Scholarship

All applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements: U.S. citizenship Successful completion of 3 credit hours of accounting prior to the Fall semester Current enrollment in an accredited Virginia college or university with the intent to pursue a degree in accounting Enrollment in an accredited Virginia college or university accounting program in the Fall semester On average, three scholarships of $1,000 each are awarded to undergraduate students who demonstrate academic excellence and financial need. Eligibility: Must demonstrate a minimum overall and accounting GPA of 3.0.

West Virginia Society of CPAs

For outstanding students at West Virginia colleges/universities. Requirements: Varies from chapter to chapter.
