The Community Foundation of Greater Lorain County Scholarship

Giving limited to Huron County and Lorain County, OH, and immediate vicinity.

Helen Steiner Rice Scholarship

The Helen Steiner Rice Scholarship is for students pursuing literary or journalism studies. The scholarship is named in honor of Helen Steiner Rice (1900 - 1981), a native of Lorain County, Ohio and world-renowned author of inspirational verse for major greeting card publishers and other publications. Particular consideration is given to older applicants, especially those who show promise of making a significant contribution to the field of creative, inspirational or motivational writing. Include: ? In your personal statement, describe how your studies will help with your writing. ? Three samples of the following types of creative writing (in any combination). Note: All samples submitted become the property of the Community Foundation of Lorain County and will not be returned to sender. Prose (300 words or less) Article (500 words or less) Poetry (300 words or less) Short story (1,000 words or less) Students interested in literary or journalism studies. Richard and Robert Aros Scholarship

Lorain County or Erie County residents pursuing education in the dental field. Average scholarship: $500. Renewable. Giving limited to residents of Lorain or Erie County, OH.

Robert E. Bass Scholarship

For adult learners enrolled at undergraduate level and needing financial assistance. Preference given to those pursuing medical, nursing, or business degrees. Giving primarily in Lorain County, OH.

Chronicle Telegram Scholarship

For students entering 3rd or 4th year of journalism studies. Open to Lorain County and Medina County students.

Mary Ruth Cornwell Calhoun Scholarship

For African American students attending colleges or universities. Giving primarily in Lorain County, OH.

Roy E. Hayes M.D. Memorial Scholarship

College students entering or enrolled in medical school. Include TAX RETURNS for you and your spouse or parents. Average scholarship: $1,000. Renewable. Giving primarily in Lorain County, OH.

James R. Hunt Memorial Scholarship

For full-time undergraduate (sophomore, junior, or senior) or graduate students pursuing a path of providing service to others, by virtue of their major field of study, career plan, or demonstrated service to the community. Minimum 3.0 GPA required. Must be enrolled in a university, community college or trade school in Ohio. Renewable only once. Giving primarily in Lorain County, OH.

Myron and Elinor Kolbe Agricultural Scholarship

For undergraduate Lorain County residents enrolled in a 4-year college, preparing for careers in agriculture, including but not limited to animal science and veterinary medicine. Preference given to students from the Black River, Keystone, and Wellington School Districts.

Mary J. and Paul J. Kopsch Scholarship

For applicants who have already been accepted to medical school (either osteopathic or allopathic). [* Students in six-year programs will only be considered in year 3 and after.] Financial need is considered. Include SAR and TAX RETURNS for you and your spouse or parents. Average scholarship: $2,500. Renewable. Giving primarily in Lorain County, OH.

Lakeland Womans Club Scholarship

Assists male and female students entering second year of 4-year college. Average scholarship: $1,000. Giving primarily in Lorain County, OH.

Vera C. Mast Scholarship

Janet Lowther McMinn & Robert McMinn Scholarship
