Walter S. Barr Scholarships

These awards for undergraduate education are made annually by the Scholarship Committee to residents of the communities who are members of the senior classes of Hampden County Private or Public secondary schools. The competition is decided on the basis of school records, college entrance examinations, general attainments and financial need. Awards will be continued through the four year course if the student's record, need and behavior justify such continuance.

Walter S. Barr Fellowships

These awards for full-time study beyond the Bachelor's Degree are made annually to Hampden County residents selected by the Fellowship Committee. Awards are made on the basis of scholastic record, available resources, need and other pertinent information.

Hampden District Medical Society Scholarship

Student must have good grades, be a resident of Hampden County in Massachusetts, and be enrolled in or accepted to an accredited medical school.

Louis W. and Mary S. Doherty Scholarship

Residents of Hampden County. Established by family and friends in memory of the Doherty’s commitment to the community and young people.

Jessie M. Law Scholarship

Established by Bertha Law in memory of her sister, Jessie M. Law, to assist residents in Hampden County in obtaining a college education.

Jacob and Celia Richmond

Law students who reside in Hampden County. Established by Robert I. Richmond in memory of his parents, Jacob and Celia. Three $1,000 awards were made in previous year.

Connie Celeste Sherman Memorial Scholarship

Established by her family for students from Hampden County. One $500 award was made in previous year.

WestFest Scholarship

Hampden County residents pursuing degrees in the arts; preference for residents of Westfield.
