Some states or counties have hundreds of scholarships for which you may qualify.

NACA New England Region Scholarships for Student Leaders

For CT, MA, ME, NH, RI and VT students. Scholarships are to be used for educational expenses, including tuition, books, fees or other related expenses. Scholarships are announced in February.DEADLINEMaterials must be submitted online between Sept. 15 and Nov. 1. Only the first 75 qualified applications will be considered.CRITERIAApplicants for the Scholarships for Student Leaders Program must: * Be matriculated undergraduate students in good standing at the time of the application and during the semester in which the award is received * Hold significant leadership positions on their campuses * Have made significant contributions to their campus communities * Have demonstrated leadership skills and ability * You must be a U.S. Citizen * High school students are not eligible.

Ross-Fahey Scholarships

The Ross-Fahey Scholarships were established in 1999 by the former NACA® New England region to provide financial assistance to graduate student leaders enrolled and new professionals employed in colleges and universities in the NACA® Northeast region. The scholarships are to be used for educational purposes, such as tuition, fees and books or for professional development purposes, such as conference fees. Selection All scholarship recipients will be selected by an anonymous committee appointed by the NACA® Northeast Regional Coordinator. Criteria: A committee will select individuals who meet the following criteria:  Matriculated graduate student or staff member employed at a member school  Demonstrates significant leadership skills and abilities  Made significant contributions via volunteer involvement, either on or off campus Application Process Candidates may be nominated by others or may self-nominate. The following must be received in the NACA Office by October 1.  A completed and signed application form  Letter of recommendation from the candidate’s current supervisor  A description or resume that highlights the applicant’s activities, abilities and accomplishments In order to receive the scholarship payment, an official verification of the recipient’s current enrollment/employment status will need to be mailed promptly to the NACA® Office.

NEWH New York Chapter Scholarship

Qualifications:  Must be a currently enrolled student attending an accredited college  Must have completed half the requirements for a degree or certification in the program you are currently enrolled  Must show financial need and have eligible outstanding debt for tuition, books or supplies at time of scholarship award  Must have a 3.0 GPA  Must have a career objective in one of the areas of the Hospitality Industry (i.e., Hotel/Restaurant Management, Culinary/Foodservice, Architecture, Interior Design, etc.) Additional requirements must be included with your application:  Student essay, to include: o Background of yourself and your experience o Your goals and objectives after graduation o What prompted you to choose this career o Do you feel you made a contribution to your school program or fellow students through leadership or participation o Why is obtaining this scholarship important to you o If your application is not accepted, what plans do you have for financing  Official Transcript  Letters of recommendation from Professor, advisor and/or department head  Letters from industry professionals, employers, etc. Submit all items mail: JACLO c/o Morgan Brodey 129 Dermody St. Cranford, NJ 07016 [email protected]

Mary C. Rawlins Scholarship

Selection Criteria: * Graduating high school senior * State of Connecticut resident * GPA of 2.5 or higher at end of Fall semester 2009 * Entering a two- or four-year college or university

Connecticut Education Association Minority Scholarships

Selection Criteria: * Entering or enrolled in a four-year Connecticut college or university * U.S. citizen * Teaching major * Minority student * Academic excellence, 2.75 GPA * Financial need * Acceptance letter from college for high school graduate; letter from college professional program for college student.

Jonathan May Memorial Scholarship

Selection Criteria * Legally blind * Graduating high school senior or college student residing or attending school full-time in Connecticut * Financial need * Academic excellence * Community service

Connecticut Building Congress Scholarships

Selection Criteria: * Graduating high school senior, undergraduate, or graduate student * Connecticut resident * Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or industry related major * Attending a two- or four-year college or university * Financial need * Academic excellence * Community service

C. Rodney Demarest Memorial Scholarship

Selection Criteria: * Legally blind * Graduating high school senior or college student residing or attending school full-time in Connecticut * Financial need * Academic excellence * Community service

Hagop, Arousiag, and Arpy Kashmanian and Hazaros Tabakoglu Scholarship Funds

Tuition Awards for College Students of Armenian Descent from the Hagop, Arousiag, and Arpy Kashmanian and Hazaros Tabakoglu Funds Tuition awards from $1,000 to $6,000 are renewable up to four years. Scholarship Criteria: Academic excellence. Family residence in New York, New Jersey, or Connecticut. (Students can attend schools throughout the U.S.) Financial need. Involvement with the Armenian community and its culture. Full-time undergraduate study only. Please submit application by May first to be considered for the following fall semester. Green Law Firm Nursing Home & Elderly Care

Attorney Bill Green and his team at Green Law Firm are committed to improving the quality of care in nursing homes. With over 26 years of experience serving the community and many years fighting against low standards of elderly care, Bill is dedicated to promoting passionate students who are focused on making care homes a ‘home’ for our senior population. We are pleased to be offering a $1500 nursing scholarship to high-achieving students who are committed to elderly care and pursuing a baccalaureate degree in nursing. Our hope is to further their professional development and continued competence, allowing them to improve the quality of life for seniors at nursing homes. Applicants will be judged on the content of their application, the essay they provide and on their academic merits. Friendship Dairies' Project Friendship Scholarship

As part of its Project Friendship program. Friendship Dairies will award a total of $12,000 in scholarship money to eight eligible high school seniors across Connecticut who have been accepted at an accredited college or university for the fall semester. Selection is based on academic achievement (3.0 or higher grade point average) and a demonstration of leadership in school and/or community volunteer activities that promote a safe and friendly environment.

Technology Scholar Program

Scholars will be selected on the basis of scholastic achievement and must meet the following guidelines: * Be a U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident and a resident of the State of Connecticut * Be in the senior year at a Connecticut high school at the time of application * Attend an accredited college or university within the State of Connecticut on a full-time basis * Be enrolled in an eligible academic program * Maintain a B average or 3.0 GPA throughout high school and college * Be in the top 20% of his or her graduating class and have scored at least 1000 combined in the Scholastic Aptitude Tests * Must work within the State of Connecticut for two years following graduation Service Obligation Following Graduation: Scholars must begin employment in the State of Connecticut within 12 months after receiving their associate's or bachelor's degrees. Automatic extensions for commencement of the employment requirement of up to four years will be granted for those who choose to immediately pursue an advanced degree in the fields of science and technology on a full-time basis. The Connecticut work requirement will be met if the Scholar meets at least one of the following within five years of graduation: * Is continuously employed with no breaks in service for 24 months * Completes a total of 3,900 hours of work during a period of time not less than two years nor more than five years immediately following completion of post-secondary education
