Some states or counties have hundreds of scholarships for which you may qualify.

Phoenix Benner Native & First Nations Scholarship

For LGBTQ Native and First Nations students who have a current or future activism and/or leadership in the Native community. Northwest Residency: Applicants must be a resident of Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, or Washington but may study elsewhere. Applicants are considered a resident of one of these states if they: currently live within that state and have done so for at least three months prior to the application deadline; or have lived within that state for at least one year at any time within the five years prior to the application deadline; or have lived within that state for more than one year at any time and have been continuously enrolled in an accredited academic institution for the five years prior to the application deadline. LGBTQ Community Involvement: Preference is given to students who are self-identified LGBTQ, members of LGBTQ families, or straight allies who have been strongly supportive of the LGBTQ community. All scholarships emphasize demonstrated commitment to equality and civil rights for all people.

Reverend Gwen Hall and Lois Peterson Scholarship

To provide critical support to students who identify as LGBT or straight ally, with preference given to students of color. Preference will also be given to students who are studying religious/spiritual studies or social work, especially students whose area of focus is HIV/AIDS. Northwest Residency: Applicants must be a resident of Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, or Washington but may study elsewhere. Applicants are considered a resident of one of these states if they: currently live within that state and have done so for at least three months prior to the application deadline; or have lived within that state for at least one year at any time within the five years prior to the application deadline; or have lived within that state for more than one year at any time and have been continuously enrolled in an accredited academic institution for the five years prior to the application deadline. LGBTQ Community Involvement: Preference is given to students who are self-identified LGBTQ, members of LGBTQ families, or straight allies who have been strongly supportive of the LGBTQ community. All scholarships emphasize demonstrated commitment to equality and civil rights for all people.

Trans Identified Scholarship

For current and future trans-identified student leaders and role models. Northwest Residency: Applicants must be a resident of Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, or Washington but may study elsewhere. Applicants are considered a resident of one of these states if they: currently live within that state and have done so for at least three months prior to the application deadline; or have lived within that state for at least one year at any time within the five years prior to the application deadline; or have lived within that state for more than one year at any time and have been continuously enrolled in an accredited academic institution for the five years prior to the application deadline. Under Our Roof Scholarship

For students who demonstrate significant financial need who are or have been homeless. Northwest Residency: Applicants must be a resident of Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, or Washington but may study elsewhere. Applicants are considered a resident of one of these states if they: currently live within that state and have done so for at least three months prior to the application deadline; or have lived within that state for at least one year at any time within the five years prior to the application deadline; or have lived within that state for more than one year at any time and have been continuously enrolled in an accredited academic institution for the five years prior to the application deadline. Bellevue PFLAG Scholarship

For graduating high school seniors currently attending a greater East King County high school. Northwest Residency: Applicants must be a resident of Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, or Washington but may study elsewhere. Applicants are considered a resident of one of these states if they: currently live within that state and have done so for at least three months prior to the application deadline; or have lived within that state for at least one year at any time within the five years prior to the application deadline; or have lived within that state for more than one year at any time and have been continuously enrolled in an accredited academic institution for the five years prior to the application deadline. LGBTQ Community Involvement: Preference is given to students who are self-identified LGBTQ, members of LGBTQ families, or straight allies who have been strongly supportive of the LGBTQ community. James Crump Memorial Scholarship

For students planning to pursue a career in nursing, medicine, social work, teaching, or another helping profession in Alaska. Northwest Residency: Applicants must be a resident of Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, or Washington but may study elsewhere. Applicants are considered a resident of one of these states if they: currently live within that state and have done so for at least three months prior to the application deadline; or have lived within that state for at least one year at any time within the five years prior to the application deadline; or have lived within that state for more than one year at any time and have been continuously enrolled in an accredited academic institution for the five years prior to the application deadline. Empowering Women In Law Scholarship

The Pearce Law Firm in Philadelphia is pleased to offer The Pearce Law Firm – Empowering Women In Law Scholarship. This scholarship opportunity is open to women nationwide who are currently attending a law school in the United States. This scholarship is intended to encourage & support outstanding achievement & leadership by example from women in the field of law. This award will be presented to a current female law student for the following academic year in the amount of $2,000.00 & will be paid at the beginning of the fall semester (2015). Requirements: This scholarship is judged & awarded primarily on academic achievement, school & community activities, demonstrated leadership abilities & financial need. The scholarship must be submitted, in full, by December 31, 2014. LATE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED. INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED. The applicant must be a current female law student. Applicant will have successfully completed at least one semester of law school but will not yet have graduated by fall semester of 2015. Must have a minimum G.P.A. of 3.0. A transcript must be attached for application to be considered. An unopened copy of transcripts, sent from the applicant’s most recent law school will be required from finalists before award is presented. This scholarship is a one-time award worth $2,000. Although not required, applicants are encouraged to submit recommendation letters and/or resumes to substantiate their application.

Tesoro Youth Leadership Awards

Tesoro Industries is providing twenty $2,500 college scholarships for outstanding young leaders. This new scholarship has been launched to encourage young scholars who are leading by example in their schools and communities. A total of twenty (20) $2,500 scholarships will be awarded. Eligibility requirements include high school seniors graduating in 2015 who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents of one of the following 19 states where Tesoro does business: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Iowa, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington, Wisconsin or Wyoming Minimum GPA of 3.0 or the equivalent Financial need Scholarship funds will be sent to the university or college where they recipients enrolls in August 2015. The scholarship application will run Dec. 9, 2014 – February 28, 2015 and is available on the NSHSS Foundation website. Scholarship award winners will be announced in May 2015. Aero Femme Scholarship

Aero Femme is a nonprofit organization and scholarship fund. One $300 scholarship will be awarded to an individual pursuing any type of aviation interest, and another one to an Alaskan female resident. Our mission is to encourage and educate women of all ages to be involved in all types of aviation. Aero Femme continues to educate women of all ages about all aspects of aviation with their youth and adult outreach programs across the nation. The requirements for this scholarship include meeting all WAI scholarship requirements; you must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, and at least 16 years old. (If the applicant is still in high school, cumulative GPA must be above 3.50.) Scholarship funds will be paid directly to the winner's educational institution school of choice and must be used within a year. (Scholarship value $300 each) Submission Requirements: Applicants must be a member of Women in Aviation, International and may apply for no more than two scholarships. Internships are not included in the two per member scholarship limit. All application materials can be submitted in the same envelope. These requirements are the minimum for all scholarships unless otherwise indicated. Some scholarships may require additional information, please read the description thoroughly to make sure you meet all requirements. For each scholarship include three stapled (no folders) complete application sets (one original and two copies) of the following information: Official WAI application form Two one-page recommendation letters (originals - no photocopies) Typed, descriptive 500-word essay Professional résumé Copies of all aviation and medical certificates and the last three pages of your pilot logbook (if applicable)
