Scholarship Description
The American Medical Association Foundation is pleased to request nominations for the Johnson F. Hammond, MD Memorial Scholarship. Dr. Hammond was an Editor and Editor Emeritus for the Journal of the American Medical Association and this scholarship s funded by a bequest from his wife, who wished to encourage medical students to enter careers in medical journalism in honor of his memory. An annual scholarship of $3,000 will be awarded to a medical student of high moral character and outstanding academic achievement with a demonstrated interest and involvement in medical journalism. The scholarship recipient will be selected from among nominees proposed by the deans of AMA approved medical schools, with financial need not being a consideration. Each school may propose one student.
