Scholars Research Program

Scholarship Description

An applicant must be a physician who has completed at least four years of training in a pathology program accredited by the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or any equivalent training program acceptable to the American Board of Pathology (ABP).  An applicant must be a CAP Fellow or Junior Member or have submitted a completed membership application.  An applicant must not have more than three years of post-pathology training and must not have achieved faculty status prior to the starting date of the scholars Fellowship.  Applicants must plan to spend the fellowship year in basic or applied research and are expected to work full-time as defined in their project plan.  The scholar may assume limited teaching and patient care responsibilities, consistent with the objectives of the fellowship.  Current Foundation scholars may reapply for an extension of funding by submitting a new application.  All applicants will be considered regardless of age, race, gender, national origin, or religion.  Because the purpose of this reward is to facilitate the transition from residency to an independent investigator, persons who have already been awarded major research support for the upcoming academic year will not be eligible.
