Scholarship Description
The Carroll L. Birch Award, sponsored by the Chicago Branch of the American Medical Women’s Association, is presented for the best original research paper written by a woman attending an accredited U.S. medical school or osteopathic medical school and a student member of AMWA. The paper may have been previously published. The recipient of the Award receives a cash prize of $500. An article noting the award winner will appear in one of the association’s publications. The award is presented only if there is a deserving manuscript. The papers are blind reviewed; therefore, provide all personal information on the title page; i.e., title, author(s), entrant’s name, address, and phone number. The title should appear at the top of the abstract and on the paper itself. An abstract of 250 words or less is required with the submission of the paper. Note: If the entrant is not first author, a cover letter from the principal investigator describing the entrant’s contributions to the work must accompany the entry.
