Scholarship Description
Graduating high school students residing in the metropolitan Detroit area and entering college in the fall, are eligible for this competition. There are no examinations to take. The award winners may go to any accredited college of his or her choice; and must go full time (at least 12 hours per semester). The scholarship is for a maximum of four years. Selections are made on the following basis. 1) Financial need - as evidenced by the completed application and other sources. This is most important. Also, it is mandatory that the applicant be able to utilize 100% of the scholarship award. However, our aid may be substituted wholly or in part for loans or work study. 2) Overall scholarship record - your grades, your scores on tests (S.A.T., A.C.T., etc.), and your activities such as school newspaper and yearbook, National Honor Society, Student Government, language club, class officer, plus any awards you my have received. 3) Character of applicant - as brought out by the letters of recommendation, outside activities, (such as jobs held), and interests and hobbies. The applicant should be at least in the top half of his or her class, and be recommended by the principal or assistant principal of the high school. Original letters of recommendation preferred that are addressed to the Foundation.
