Career Development Grants

Scholarship Description

Career Development Grants support women currently holding a bachelor’s degree who are preparing for career advancement, career change, or to re-enter the work force.  Special consideration is given to AAUW members, women of color, women pursuing their first advanced degree or credentials in nontraditional fields.  Funds are available for tuition, fees, books, supplies, local transportation, and dependent care.  Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents whose last degree was received.  Candidates eligible for another AAUW Educational Foundation fellowship or grant program are not eligible for Career Development Grants.  Approximately 66 grants are available in two categories:  Academic Grants provide support for course work toward a master’s degree or specialized training in technical or professional fields.  Course work must be undertaken at a fully accredited two- or four-year college, university, or technical school licensed, accredited, or approved by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.  Funds are not available for doctoral level work.  Professional Development Institute Grants support women’s participation in professional institutes that are academically based to:  - Advance professionally within a discipline or profession - Enter a discipline or profession Applicants for Institute Grants must also apply directly to the institute, and funding is contingent upon their admission.  Eligible institutes must have:  - A focused and specific program of study with identified faculty - Fixed schedules and duration - Selection/enrollment processes with baseline eligibility criteria Decisions about which professional institutes meet the above criteria will be made by the Foundation.
