Scholarship Description
The Spillane Scholarship was established in 2005 by members of the Spillane family. Mr. Spillane spent his career working with the MBTA, and also held a second job to help put his four children through school. He had a lifelong love of golf that started when he caddied at Dedham Country and Polo Club during the Depression. Mr. Spillane died in 2001. The Spillane Scholarship has been established to help Ouimet Scholars of great financial need.To be eligible for a scholarship, applicants must have completed at least two years service to golf as caddies, helpers in the pro shop, or course superintendent operations at a club in Massachusetts. The awards are “need-based” and assist with tuition at accredited undergraduate institutions.
