Scholarship Description
The Kurson Scholarship was established in 2006 by his daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Richard Lubin. Mr. Kurson wasPresident of the Ouimet Fund from 1975 - 1977. During that time The Fund opened the long awaited Golf House Building in Weston. He was a long time member of Belmont Country Club, where he served as President from 1966 - 1970. TheNewell B. Kurson Scholarship is primarily limited to Ouimet Scholars from Belmont Country Club.To be eligible for a scholarship, applicants must have completed at least two years service to golf as caddies, helpers in the pro shop, or course superintendent operations at a club in Massachusetts. The awards are “need-based” and assist with tuition at accredited undergraduate institutions.
