Evoke Scholars Program

Scholarship Description

The Evoke Scholars Program was established as a result of a generous gift from the Lilly Endowment Inc., an Indianapolis-based, private philanthropic foundation created in 1937 by three members of the Lilly Family—J.K. Lilly Sr. and sons J.K. Lilly Jr. and Eli—through gifts of stock in their pharmaceutical business, Eli Lilly and Company.  The Evoke Scholarship Program will recognize five Loyola University Chicago students with a one year scholarship of $2,500 each.  Eligible candidates must be students who are actively exploring a career in ministry.  Open to all faith traditions.  This scholarship is renewable on a competitive basis.  Qualified students must complete an application form and consent to a personal interview with members of the Evoke staff. APPLICANT CRITERIA:The Evoke Scholarship Program is open to undergraduates at Loyola University Chicago who are in good standing within their respective college.  Minimally, an applicant must: - be a current sophomore or junior in status, entering their junior or senior year - be enrolled full-time - have a 3.0 minimum cumulative grade point average - have demonstrated volunteer service or paid employment in one or more community- or faith-based settingsSCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS:Evoke Scholarship recipients will be required to: - Complete 150 internship “discernment” hours in a community- or faith-based setting - Meet weekly with other Evoke Scholars in a small faith-sharing group - Meet monthly with a spiritual director for ongoing discernment - Take part in an internship seminar (THEO 348) and a capstone course (THEO 347) - Participate in two personal interviews with members of the Evoke staff
