Scholarship Description

The American Center of Oriental Research (ACOR) offers one or more three- to six-month fellowships for pre-doctoral scholars at the institute in Amman. These fellowships are available to Ph.D. candidates in the History of Art who are completing dissertation research. The applicant must be a U.S. citizen or students who have matriculated at U.S. institutions. History of Art is defined to include Art History, Archaeology, Architectural History, and in some cases Classical Studies. The research topic should be focused on some aspect of the artistic legacy of a specific culture, site, or time period. The candidate should make a strong case for residency at the ACOR Center in Amman in order to conduct the research. The fellowships will be offered for a term of three to six months with a maximum award of $14,000. Preference will be given to full six month applicants, and shorter research periods fellowships will be proportionally awarded.
