Scholarship Description
To recognize and reward excellence in patient/public education by members of ONS. Amount Awarded: $2000 Number Awarded: 1 each year. Duration: Annually. Eligibility: Nominees for this award should be oncology nurses who are involved in offering creative public or patient education. The candidate must be an RN and a member of the society who meets the following criteria: has a minimum of 2 years of experience in oncology nursing; teaches patients or community groups; identifies needs for education in patients, families, or communities; plans innovative programs to meet identified need; designs innovative programs with clearly stated objectives and content relevant to the population service; implements programs using creative presentation techniques and appropriate evaluation methods; serves as a role model for other nurses; creates a network to sustain health promotion behaviors; and establishes positive teacher-learner relationships.
