Scholarship Description

The purpose of the ELLIS AND NELLIE PATCH SCHOLARSHIP is to provide financial assistance to sophomore, junior, and senior students from Johnson County who are enrolled at least half-time at a post-secondary, not-for-profit educational institution (university, community college, trade/technical school). The amount of the award may vary from year to year. The primary criterion for selection is financial need. Academic proficiency is also considered, with preference given to sophomore students.

Geographic Requirements: Applicants must have ties to Johnson County, WY (e.g. legal resident of Johnson County, graduate of Buffalo or Kaycee High School, or a recipient of a GED certificate from a Johnson County, WY educational institute).
Academic Requirements: Applicants should have at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA.
Financial Need: Financial need must be demonstrated through completion of the Financial Aid Affidavit on the last page of the application form.
Number and Duration of Awards: Two scholarships of at least $1,500 will be awarded each year.
Payment of Scholarship: The scholarship is made payable directly to the educational institution to be applied towards the student’s tuition and fees.
Other Awards: This scholarship may be accepted in addition to other awards, provided that the combined amount does not exceed the full amount of tuition, books, fees, supplies and equipment required for courses at the educational institution.
