Scholarship Description
Description:The Hawai‘i Veterans Memorial Fund was established in 1945 in honor of Hawai‘i veterans of World War II. The Fund’s first priority is to support Hawai‘i’s schools by giving grants to undergraduate students and graduate students attending college in Hawai‘i. Knowing that some advanced course work is unavailable in Hawai‘i, the Fund also supports graduate students on the mainland. Requirements: Be a college Graduate student (Post Baccalaureate) attending school in the United States. Minimum GPA 3.5. Applicants do NOT have to be veterans or children of veterans to in order to apply for this scholarship. An additional award is given to an outstanding graduate student who has demonstrated high academic achievement, excellent character and the potential for combining professional endeavors with community service in Hawai‘i. This award is named in honor of attorney Robert K. Murakami, one of the original founders of the fund. Students wishing to be considered for the special Murakami award are required to submit two letters of recommendation with their applications. Supplemental Materials Required:If you would like to be considered for the special Murakami Scholarship Award, you must submit Two (2) Letters of Recommendation in addition to the regular application materials.
