Twenty years ago, if you suddenly wanted to know what the difference was between gelato and ice cream, you’d have to find an encyclopedia, a dictionary, or a wizened old Italian grandmother to fill you in. Now, we live in a world where silly sounds like Google, Yahoo and Bing are verbs, and an entirely new industry has been created to help people capitalize on the power of digital marketing.
With all the changes search engine marketing (SEM) has seen in the past ten years, we can’t know for sure what it will look like in the next five or ten years. Will content marketing continue to be a focus in digital marketing? How will data from PPC and SEO campaigns inform each other’s strategy? Will local SEO become more important as people become more mobile, or will our own hometown Chicago SEO give way to a more global search engine strategy? Frankly, it’s anyone’s guess- and that’s where you come in.
In a 500+ word essay, share how you think digital marketing will develop in the next five to ten years, and what you think the industry will be like when you’re out of school and working in the marketing industry. You may focus on one how one aspect of digital marketing will change, or you can address how each branch of digital marketing will grow to interact with the others.
The winning essay writer will receive $500 in scholarship funds to help you achieve your goal of working in SEO, PPC, or content marketing. The scholarship is open to planning to study the fields of marketing, advertising, and/or public relations.
To enter, please send your completed essay to DTCscholarship@gmail.com, along with your name, age, grade, location, college/university, and your intended major in college.
