The MISA Foundation Scholarship Fund was formed in March of 1989 by the Meat Industry Suppliers Alliance (MISA). The fund grew to include three $5000 scholarships awarded annually. In March of 2007, Siemens Corporation generously offered to contribute $5,000 towards a brand new scholarship program. The MISA Foundation agreed to match the donation with an additional $5,000 to create one $10,000 scholarship. The three $5000 scholarships are awarded to outstanding students in the meat sciences field, while the $10,000 scholarship will be awarded to an outstanding undergraduate (junior/senior level) or graduate student pursuing a degree in the engineering or meat sciences fields.
This is to encourage and support those interested in pursuing careers within the meat industry or engineering field. Scholarship recipients will be selected on the basis of the following criteria: academic performance, commitment to a career in the meat industry or engineering field as well as potential for success.
$5,000 MISA Scholarship: Applicants must be at least sophomore level undergraduate students in the meat sciences, with a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
$10,000 MISA/Siemens Scholarship: Applicants may be junior or senior level undergraduate students and Masters or Ph.D. candidates in engineering or the meat sciences, attending a North American university.
