Scholarship Description

DescriptionThis grant program was created by the Higher Education Reconciliation Act of 2005 signed by President Bush on February 8, 2006. The Academic Competitiveness Grant Program (ACG) awards grants to eligible financially needy students who complete a rigorous secondary school program of study. An ACG is available during a student’s first and second academic years of undergraduate education in an eligible undergraduate program.EligibilityApplicant must   * Be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen   * Be enrolled at least half-time in a certificate (must be at least one year in length) or degree program offered at a two- or four-year degree granting institution   * Be Pell eligible, awards are in addition to Pell Grant   * Have successfully completed rigorous high school program, as determined by the state.  * Have maintained cumulative GPA of at least 3.0, if second year student.Awards based on student’s grade level with only one award for each grade level.Value$750 first-year awards; $1,300 second-year awards.Application ProcedureComplete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and self-identify as being potentially eligible by certifying graduation from a rigorous secondary school program. A student eligible for a Pell Grant and meeting the requirements listed above may be considered.
