Randy Rood Memorial Scholarship

Scholarship Description

PurposeThe purpose of Randy Rood Memorial Scholarship Fund is to assist low-income individuals in Wasco and Sherman Counties to obtain a degree from an accredited college or university. Mid-Columbia Health Foundation will distribute these funds.EligibilityApplicants must be graduating high school seniors from Wasco or Sherman County.  Applicants must have a high school GPA of at least 2.5.  Recipients of the award must maintain at least a 2.5 GPA and be enrolled as a full time student.  They must be from a low-income family and have limited means to make further education possible.  Applicants must not be pregnant and must be drug-free while on this program.  Successful applicants must also apply for financial aid from FAFSA. ProcessApplicants will write a one page essay describing:  family background, lessons they have learned from life, anticipated educational costs and amount they would be able to contribute.  The essay should include a plan for the next several years, including the applicant’s goals and objectives and what he/she hopes to achieve with a college education.
