Scholarship Description

Description   This scholarship serves to support a student who is employed as a technologist, and is actively pursuing an advanced degree related to his/her nuclear medicine career.  This scholarship is funded by the Corporate Friends; IBA, MDS Nordion, and Lantheus, and Corporate Sponsors; Capintec, Inc., and Philips, of the SNMTS Professional Development and Education Fund (PDEF).Requirements   Applications will not be considered unless the following have been received by the application deadline:  • A completed application, which includes the applicant’s personal & financial information and the advanced degree program information.  • Official transcripts of all formal education issued directly from the institution’s registrar’s office. Further instructions are included in the ‘Official Transcripts of all Formal Education’ section of this application.  • An applicant statement, not to exceed two pages, in .doc or .pdf format that can be attached to this application. The brief statement should detail your activity level in the SNM Technologist Section (SNMTS) and address the following questions: What are your professional achievements? What are your career and educational goals? How will your advanced degree in the field of nuclear medicine help you to achieve your goals?  • A completed evaluation from the program dean/director/advisor, whose information will be requested in the ‘Program Dean/Director/Advisor Evaluation’ section of this application.  • A completed evaluation from your professional supervisor, whose information will be requested in the ‘Professional Supervisor Evaluation’ section of this application.  To be eligible for the PDEF Professional Development Scholarship, candidates must:  • Be an active member of the SNM Technologist Section (SNMTS).  • Have completed eight or more hours in the last three years matriculating toward an accredited advanced degree program (Masters or above) that is intended to further their career in nuclear medicine.  • Have maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better on a four-point scale.  • Have worked in the nuclear medicine profession for at least one of the past five years in a clinical or didactic setting.  Serious applicants only, please.
