AIST Willy Korf Memorial Fund

Scholarship Description

Administered by the AIST Foundation, this scholarship was established by Korf Lurgi Steeltec, Inc. to honor the late Willy Korf, Founder of the Korf Group and a well-known promoter/developer of innovative technology. Scholarships will be granted to full-time undergraduate students with a genuine demonstrated interest in a career in the iron and steel industry and majoring in the field of engineering, metallurgy or materials science at an accredited U.S. college or university. Eligibility Requirements: * Applicant must be enrolled full-time in an engineering, metallurgy or materials science program at an accredited North American university. * Applicant should have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. * Applicant should have a demonstrated interest in a career in the iron and steel industry. Required Documents: 1. A completed application form. 2. A current resume with work experience and any extracurricular activities, noting any leadership positions. 3. An essay, not to exceed two pages in length, of your professional goals explaining why you are interested in a career in the steel industry, and how your skills could be applied to enhance the industry. 4. Three letters of recommendation which address character, academic status, leadership potential and career commitment from: a. the applicants college academic advisor, b. a professor, c. an external source, preferably a previous employer. 5. A current academic transcript or other official documentation of academic standing and performance.
