Nancy Lorraine Jensen Memorial Scholarship Fund

Scholarship Description

To be eligible for a scholarship from the Nancy Lorraine Jensen Memorial Scholarship Fund: a) The applicant must be an American citizen not younger than 17 and not older than 35 on the date that the scholarship application is submitted. b) The applicant must be a female member or the daughter or granddaughter of a member of Sons of Norway, provided that such membership shall have been of at least three years duration on the date the application is submitted. c) THE APPLICANT MUST BE A FULL-TIME UNDERGRADUATE WHO HAS COMPLETED AT LEAST ONE TERM (QUARTER, SEMESTER) OF HER STUDIES AFTER BEING ACCEPTED AS A MAJOR EITHER IN CHEMISTRY, PHYSICS OR IN CHEMICAL, ELECTRICAL OR MECHANICAL ENGINEERING. THE GRANT IS INTENDED TO BE USED FOR UNDERGRADUATE STUDY. d) The applicant must have attained a SAT score of at least 1800, a math score of 600 or better, or an ACT score of at least 26. HOW ARE THE WINNERS SELECTED? Final selection of the scholarship winners will be made by the Sons of Norway Foundation Scholarship Committee. The criteria for selection are: a) long-term career goals and clarity of study plan b) academic potential and evidence of ability to succeed c) letters of recommendation giving specific evidence of good character, eagerness and earnestness and ambition in the field of science and engineering. Note: Previous holding of the Nancy Lorraine Jensen Memorial Scholarship gives priority to the applicant. Please include all items from the checklist in one envelope. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
