Broadcasting Scholarships

Here are some of the Broadcasting scholarships on our site for which you may qualify.

NAHJ PepsiCo Scholarships

These Scholarships of up to $2,500 will be awarded to students pursuing careers in print, broadcast, online and visual journalism. College-bound high school seniors, college undergraduates and graduate students are eligible as long as they have a 2.0 average. These scholarships are made possible by PepsiCo, an effort to support young aspiring Latino journalists.

AWC Student Scholarships

Every year AWC Seattle Professional Chapter awards scholarships to outstanding communications students attending Washington state colleges. Eligible students must meet the following qualifications: • Be a Washington state resident • Be a registered student at a four-year college in Washington state for Fall school year • Be a junior, senior or graduate student as of Fall school year • Be accepted in, or applying to, a school at a four-year university or college to major in at least one of the following communications disciplines: o Advertising o Communications o Film o Graphic design o Journalism (print and broadcast) o Marketing o Multimedia design o Photography o Public relations o Speech communications o Technical communication o Television and radio production Scholarship selections are based on: • Demonstrated excellence in communications • Positive contributions toward communications on campus, in the community • Scholastic achievement • Financial need • Work samples

Harold E. Fellows Scholarships

Study any area of broadcasting. Scholarships will be awarded for full-time degree work at the JUNIOR, SENIOR OR GRADUATE level. Scholarships must be used exclusively for tuition, student fees, university book store course purchases, and university dormitory room and board. Current scholarship holders are not eligible for reappointment in the year following their award. All scholarships must be applied to study at a campus where at least one department is a BEA institutional member. The applicant should be able to show substantial evidence of superior academic performance and potential to be an outstanding electronic media professional. There should be compelling evidence that the applicant possesses high integrity and a well-articulated sense of personal and professional responsibility.

BEA Two Year/Community College Award

The BEA Two Year Scholarship is for study at school offering only freshman and sophomore instruction. Scholarships must be used exclusively for tuition, student fees, university book store course purchases, and university dormitory room and board. Current scholarship holders are not eligible for reappointment in the year following their award. All scholarships must be applied to study at a campus where at least one department is a BEA institutional member. The applicant should be able to show substantial evidence of superior academic performance and potential to be an outstanding electronic media professional. There should be compelling evidence that the applicant possesses high integrity and a well-articulated sense of personal and professional responsibility.

Walter S. Patterson Scholarships

Study toward a career in RADIO. Scholarships will be awarded for full-time degree work at the JUNIOR, SENIOR OR GRADUATE level. Scholarships must be used exclusively for tuition, student fees, university book store course purchases, and university dormitory room and board. Current scholarship holders are not eligible for reappointment in the year following their award. All scholarships must be applied to study at a campus where at least one department is a BEA institutional member. The applicant should be able to show substantial evidence of superior academic performance and potential to be an outstanding electronic media professional. Shane Media Scholarship

Study toward a career in RADIO. Scholarships will be awarded for full-time degree work at the JUNIOR, SENIOR OR GRADUATE level. Alexander M. Tanger Scholarships

Abe Voron Scholarship

Vincent T. Wasilewski Scholarship

Current scholarship holders are not eligible for reappointment in the year following their award. All scholarships must be applied to study at a campus where at least one department is a BEA institutional member. The applicant should be able to show substantial evidence of superior academic performance and potential to be an outstanding electronic media professional. Harold E. Ennes & Robert D. Greenerg Scholarship

To be eligible, an applicant must have a career interest in the technical aspects of broadcasting and must be recommended by two members of the Society of Broadcast Engineers (SBE). The Ennes and Greenberg Scholarships are typically presented to applicants who have some work experience in broadcast engineering and who are interested in continuing their education in order to advance their careers. Preference is also given to members of SBE. The award amount varies each year from $1,000 to $3,000, depending on funds available.

Helen J. Sioussat
