Some states or counties have hundreds of scholarships for which you may qualify.

Kevin Ernst Memorial Scholarship Fund

Available to students residing in the foundation's service area who desire to continue their education in the field of mathematics and who demonstrate financial need. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of a competitive process which considers financial need, academic achievement, extra-curricular activities, educational goals and personal aspirations. The community foundation's Board of Trustees has final approval of scholarship recommendations made by the foundation's Scholarship Committee or the advisory committees of certain scholarship funds. Scholarship amounts vary based on annual income available from each fund.

Scott A. Flahive Memorial Scholarship Fund

Established in memory of a young Grand Haven police officer, this fund offers educational assistance to local students pursuing careers in the fields of law enforcement and/or criminal justice. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of a competitive process which considers financial need, academic achievement, extra-curricular activities, educational goals and personal aspirations. The community foundation's Board of Trustees has final approval of scholarship recommendations made by the foundation's Scholarship Committee or the advisory committees of certain scholarship funds. Scholarship amounts vary based on annual income available from each fund.

David and Ginny Schultz Family Scholarship Fund

To assist local residents in continuing their education beyond high school at a four-year college, junior college, trade school or apprenticeship. Applicants need not have strong academic records but must show financial need. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of a competitive process which considers financial need, academic achievement, extra-curricular activities, educational goals and personal aspirations. The community foundation's Board of Trustees has final approval of scholarship recommendations made by the foundation's Scholarship Committee or the advisory committees of certain scholarship funds. Scholarship amounts vary based on annual income available from each fund.

Economic Club Business Study Abroad Scholarship

The Economic Club of Grand Rapids established a fund in 2000 to provide financial assistance to students pursuing study abroad in business. The Economic Club is an association of individuals interested in and contributing to the growing economic health of the Grand Rapids metropolitan area. One (or more) scholarships of up to $2000 will be awarded annually. The applicant must meet the following criteria: • Applicant must have sophomore or above standing at the time of application in an undergraduate business program or in a graduate level business program at any public college or university of their choice. Applicant must have a declared major in accounting, business administration, economics, managerial science (all areas), mathematics, computer science, engineering, marketing, or fields of study related to business or economics. • Applicant must have at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average. • Applicant must be a resident of Kent, Allegan, Ottawa, or Muskegon counties for the prior three years or must be a resident student at a public college or university in the West Michigan area for the prior two years or more consecutively. • Foreign study programs must be endorsed and accepted as a part of or as a credit course in the applicant's degree granting college or university. Funds must be administered through the home college/university financial aid office. • The recipient may be asked to deliver a brief oral presentation to the Economic Club of Grand Rapids within six months of return to the United States.

Elmer and C. Berniece Warner Scholarship

Fund Purpose: Scholarships for students attending IWU studying education or religion. Fund Story: Elmer and C. Berniece Warner began a scholarship fund in 1997 to benefit IWU students majoring in Religion and Philosophy or Education. They wanted the scholarship to be awarded to students who are Michigan residents and whose lives are characterized by integrity, modesty, hard work and diligence. This fund is now advised by Indiana Wesleyan University.

Jerrold E. Potts Scholarship

Qualifications: ● Minimum 2.5 GPA ● Parent, grandparent, or legal guardian must be a current or retired member of IBEW 557 ● Attend a Michigan college or university, unless an out-of state school is necessary for a specialized field of study ● Pursuing a bachelor or graduate degree ● Traditional student ● Full-time enrollment GPA; overall achievement; and financial need. This is a competitive scholarship and applicants must receive at least one-half of the total number of points possible to be eligible to receive an award.

Grand Rapids Combined Theatre Scholarship

Grants are available to college students pursuing education in theatre arts. Scholarships of up to $1,000 are awarded annually to individuals who by his/her own contribution to theatre have demonstrated ability, talent, and dedication to the theatre arts. The applicant shall meet the following criteria: must be enrolled full time in an accredited college or training program, with preference given to theatre arts majors, and must have worked in Grand Rapids area community theatre. An interview is required for finalists.

Chapter One - Detroit Associate Scholarship

Scholarship applicants must be a high school graduating senior or an undergraduate student enrolled in a manufacturing engineering, manufacturing engineering technology or closely related degree at one of the following sponsored institutions. Wayne State University, Student Chapter S004 Lawrence Technological University, Student Chapter S011 University of Detroit-Mercy, Student Chapter S081 Focus: Hope, Center for Advanced Technologies, Student Chapter S279 Henry Ford Community College, Student Chapter S331 Macomb Community College, Student Chapter S071 University of Michigan - Dearborn, Student Chapter S326 Preference will be given to a member in good standing of their respective SME Student Chapter or SME-Detroit Chapter One - The Founding Chapter. Preference will be given to applicants involved in SME Student Chapter activities at their respective institution. The applicant can be a full- or part-time student. Applicants must possess an overall minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 Scale. Applicants must demonstrate good character and leadership. Need is not a consideration in awarding scholarships except when two or more applicants have equal qualifications.

Frances DiMercurio Memorial Scholarship

Minimum 2.5 GPA. Applicant must be a current member or the son, daughter, or grandchild of a current member of Sacra Famiglia Saginaw Lodge 2456 of the Sons of Italy. Must have been a member in good standing since January 1 of the previous year. Undergraduate, graduate or vocational studies. Part-time or full-time college enrollment. (Nonrenewable. The scholarship can be used for tuition, books, course-related fees, room and board.)

Junior League of Saginaw Valley Scholarship

Qualifications: 2.5 GPA. Female. Enrolled college student. Resident of Saginaw, Bay, or Midland counties. Pursuing an undergraduate degree or vocational training. Full-time or part-time enrollment. Evaluation Criteria: Community service (50); financial need (30); scholastic record (20). In the event of a tie, evaluation of each applicant’s community service will be used as the tiebreaker.

A.C. Kate & Leo Joseph Merlone Scholarship

3.0 GPA. Member of St. Stephen's Catholic Church. Pursuing an undergraduate, graduate or vocational degree full-time. Attending a Michigan institution.

E.C. Fisher Scholarship

In 1926, Margaret Fisher established a scholarship with the United Advisory Scholarship Commission in 1926 in the name of her late husband, E.C.Fisher, a former member of the Saginaw Board of Education. Mr. Fisher received a Mechanical Engineering degree from Cornell University. To honor Mr. Fisher’s great interest in engineering, this scholarship will assist a graduating senior from any high school in the City of Saginaw pursuing a degree in engineering. Qualifications: ● Graduating senior from a Saginaw Public School ● Pursuing a degree in Engineering ● Must reside in the Saginaw Public School District ● Full-time enrollment Criteria: Scholastic record; financial need; overall involvement in community, school and work activities.
