Graduate Arts Award

Sponsor: The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation

Amount of Award: up to $50,000.00.

Application Requirements/Description:

The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation is a private, independent foundation dedicated to advancing the education of exceptionally promising students who have financial need. We offer several scholarship programs, including this program for graduate study in the arts. Our Graduate Arts Award enables students or recent alumni with exceptional artistic or creative merit and financial need to pursue up to three years of study at an accredited graduate institution in the US or abroad. Demonstrated financial need includes (1) low student and family income and assets in light of educational expenses, and (2) educational costs that are appreciably greater than the total amount of other grants or scholarships the applicant may receive.

Students in the fields of performing arts, visual arts, and creative writing are eligible to apply. To be eligible to compete for the Jack Kent Cooke Graduate Arts Award, a candidate must have: Senior standing or have graduated from an accredited four-year US college or university within the past five years. A cumulative undergraduate grade-point average of 3.20 or better on a scale of 4.0 (or the equivalent). Demonstrated unmet financial need. A bachelor's degree by the start of the fall 2013 semester. Plans to begin their first graduate degree program in the performing arts, visual arts, or creative writing at an accredited college or university in the fall of 2013.
