Scholarship Description
Purpose: To provide scholarship support for a member of St. Clair Memorial Hospitals nursing staff who is interested in pursuing additional nursing education and for a college junior or senior pursuing a nursing career. Preference shall be given to Greater Cleveland residents attending an accredited Ohio college of nursing. Eligibility: To be eligible, you must: * Be a nurse at St. Clair Memorial Hospital in Mt. Lebanon, Pa., pursuing additional nursing education, or be a college junior or senior attending full-time (12 or more credit hours) as an undergraduate degree-seeking candidate at an accredited Ohio four-year college or university, enrolled in a nursing program and anticipating pursuing a career in nursing. (Preference shall be given to Greater Cleveland residents attending an accredited Ohio college of nursing.) * Have a minimum 2.5 grade-point average (GPA) on a 4.0 grade scale * Demonstrate financial need Selection process: A selection committee will base its scholarship decisions on the completed application, evidence of commitment to a career in nursing, academic performance, financial need, and ability to benefit. The committee may request a personal interview. Award process: The annual award amount will be based on the performance of the fund and number of applicants selected. There have generally been two awards at $700 each annually. Awards must be applied to tuition, fees, books, supplies, and equipment required for courses. Grants are paid to the school for the benefit of the selected student(s).
