Music Performance Scholarships

Here are some of the Music Performance scholarships on our site for which you may qualify.

Charles and Ida Locke Vocal Scholarship

1. Students who demonstrate exceptional singing ability, preferably a female vocalist.2. Applicants should ideally have a major course of study in Voice, Music Education, or Vocal Performance. However, an exceptional student who is active in vocal performance with a major outside of the above mentioned areas could be considered.3. Students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 for all college work and a 3.0 minimum cumulative GPA for those courses which are part of their major course of study.

H.G. Palmer Scholarship

Applicant must be a Band Music major.

Harley B. and Ruth F. Doak Music Scholarship

Recipients must be Kansas residents, with preference given to instrumental music students recognized for outstanding talent and substantial contribution toward the goals of the Department of Music.

Henry Edward Malloy Memorial Scholarship

Applicant must be a Voice major.

Schleich Memorial Scholarship

Available to a student from any major who has auditioned for a Music Scholarship. Recipient must maintain a 3.0 GPA in Music courses.

William D. Wilkins Memorial Scholarship

Applicant must be a Music major with a 3.0 GPA. First preference to students whose principal performance medium is the organ.

Philharmonic Musicians Scholarship Program

The Philharmonic Musician’s Professional Scholarship Fund aids students who are serious about their music and have aspirations for a career in music but need financial assistance in reaching their goals. Selection of recipients will be based on need, talent and the student’s desire to excel as a musician. This program is not intended for beginning-level or collegiate students. Scholarships are awarded specifically for student with Philharmonic Musicians. Philharmonic musicians whose primary source of income is playing with the Philharmonic are eligible to teach in this program. In the event a student is not already studying with a Philharmonic musician, the committee will make every attempt to obtain a Philharmonic musician teacher for the student.

Fort Wayne Philharmonic Friends Scholarship

Purpose: This scholarship provides financial aid to promising elementary and/or secondary orchestral instrument/vocal students who need assistance in meeting the cost of private lessons. Scholarships will be awarded in amounts of $100 or more depending on the need, merit, and number of students applying. A check will be issued upon completion of the lessons following the receipt of: 1) Teacher post-evaluation form indication progress, attitude, etc. 2) Verification form co-signed by teacher and student.Eligibility Requirements & Instructions:• Instrumental applicants must be in grades 1-12 • Vocal students must be at least 13 (Male voices must have changed)• Instruments must be orchestral instruments (includes piano)• Applicant must complete and return application• Recommendation form from private music instructor/teacher (mailed by teacher)

Purpose: The Philharmonic Musicians’ Professional Scholarship Fund aids students who are truly serious about their music and have aspirations for a career in music but need financial assistance in reaching their goals. Selection of recipients will be based on need, talent and the student’s desire to excel as a musician. This program is not intended for beginning-level or collegiate students. Scholarships are awarded specifically for study with Philharmonic Musicians. Philharmonic musicians whose primary source of income is playing with the Philharmonic are eligible to teach in this program. In the event a student is not already studying with a Philharmonic musician, the committee will make every attempt to obtain a Philharmonic musician teacher for the student. Special arrangements can be considered if the Philharmonic does not employ a full-time musician for a particular instrument.Eligibility Requirements & Instructions:• Must be instrumental musician under age of 19• Applicant must complete and return application• Recommendation form from private music instructor/teacher (mailed by teacher)• Call (260) 481-0757 to sign up for an audition time• For the audition, the student must bring three copies of their selected audition music for the adjudicators. You may bring an accompanist if desired, but this is not a requirement.

Scholarships for Private Lessons

The Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra supports music education for middle and high school students. Students in financial need receive private lessons with the help of KSO and Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra League support.

PAJWELL FOUNDATION BACHELOR OF MUSIC IN COMPOSITION FOR VISUAL MEDIA SCHOLARSHIP

The Pajwell Foundation Bachelor of Music in Composition for Visual Media Scholarship was created to honor and acknowledge exceptional MI students who can clearly articulate their professional goals in the music industry, and submit two original songs for visual media that they have either composed and/or produced, and/or arranged.

Tony DiPardo Instrumental Music Foundation and Scholarship Fund

The Tony DiPardo Instrumental Music Foundation and Scholarship Fund was established in honor and memory of instrumental music leader Tony DiPardo to support students pursuing instrumental music education at the college or university level and also programs that enhance and encourage students’ appreciation for instrumental music. Eligibility: In order to be eligible for the Tony DiPardo Instrumental Music Scholarship the student must meet the following criteria: Be graduating from a Greater Kansas City area high school and accepted to an accredited two or four-year college or university. Currently play a musical instrument and have an express interest in continuing instrumental music study at the college or university level. Have/maintain an academic GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. Applications are accepted year round. Students who believe they meet the above stated criteria and wish to be considered for a scholarship may submit a scholarship application online.
