Elementary Teaching Scholarships

Here are some of the Elementary Teaching scholarships on our site for which you may qualify.

Wallace N. Weber MD Scholarship

Preference to applicants with a major in elementary or secondary education.

William J. Befort Scholarship

Applicant must be a full-time student majoring in Teacher Education and show financial need. The awards will be divided equally between male and female students.

Norma Gotwalt Scholarship

The Norma Gotwalt Scholarship Fund is an endowment of The Foundation for Enhancing Communities. This scholarship will be awarded to one female studying elementary education and entering her senior year at Penn State Harrisburg. This scholarship fund was established in honor of two of Ms. Gotwalt’s colleagues in the field of education: Dr. William Henk and Dr. Steven Melnick. This $3,000 scholarship must be used for tuition, fees, or books and is contingent upon a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25 while attending Penn State Harrisburg. Eligibility Criteria: 1. Must be a female elementary education student entering her senior year at Penn State Harrisburg 2. Must maintain a cumulative 3.25 GPA in her time at Penn State Harrisburg 3. Community service 4. Financial need

Norma Gotwalt Scholarship Fund

Recipient must be in her junior or senior year at Penn State Capital College. This scholarship fund was established in honor of two of Ms. Gotwalt’s colleagues in the field of Education: Dr. William Henk and Dr. Steven Melnick. This $3,000 annual scholarship can be used for tuition, course fees, or textbooks and is contingent on a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA while at Penn State Capital College.SELECTION CRITERIA:Scholarship applicants will be evaluated on the following criteria:1. Must be a female elementary education student in her junior or senior year at Penn State Capital College.2. Must maintain a cumulative 3.0 GPA in her time at Penn State Capital College3. Career goals4. Essay 300 words maximum, typewritten, 12 pt. font, double spaced5. Financial need6. Community service

Alma White - Delta Chapter, Delta Kappa Gamma Scholarship

Alma White was a long-time teacher and principal in Hawai'i. When she died, she left a great part of her assets to the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, Delta Chapter, of which she was a member. The Society is an educational society dedicated to the advancement of women educators. The Chapter members established this scholarship which will enable future generations of Hawai'i students to pursue teaching as their life's calling. Requirements: Major in Education. Be a college junior, senior or graduate student. Applicants must submit a letter from their school confirming enrollment in the Education program. Two letters of recommendation required. Be a resident of the State of Hawaii Be a full-time student Maintain a minimum 2.7 GPA

Dr. Hans and Clara Zimmerman Foundation Education Scholarship

Requirements: Major in Education with emphasis on teaching. Preference given to non-traditional students with at least two years of teaching experience. Preference given to students of Hawaiian ethnicity. Minimum GPA 2.8. Two letters of recommendation required. Include in your Personal Statement any community service you have been involved in, and explain why you are involved in these activities. Include in your Personal Statement the answer to the question -- What is your teaching philosophy? And how is your philosophy being applied in the classroom today (provide an example)? IMPORTANT: Applicants are automatically disqualified if they do not address their teaching philosophy in the Personal Statement.

Brian Cummins Memorial Scholarship

Selection Criteria * College junior or senior or graduate student enrolled in a full-time program to teach blind and visually impaired students in Connecticut * Academic excellence * Community service * Financial need

Connecticut Minority Teacher Incentive Program

Selection Criteria: * Amount awarded: up to $5,000/year for two years in school and up to $2,500 for four years while teaching * Full-time college junior or senior * African American, Hispanic/Latino, Asian American or Native American heritage * Weisman applicants also must intend to teach math or science * Nomination by Educational Dean at college student is attending

Edward G. and Helen A. Borgens Elementary and Secondary Teacher Education Scholarships

Selection Criteria: * 25 years of age or older * 3.5 GPA * College sophomore or above * Studying Elementary or Secondary Education * May apply for possible renewal * U.S. citizen * Letter of sponsorship from a local DAR chapterApplication Instructions: * For Connecticut residents to obtain application materials, send a self-addressed stamped envelope to the address listed below or email L2stew@yahoo.com.

The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, Epsilon Pi Chapter Scholarship

This Epsilon Pi Chapter of The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International has established a scholarship fund to recruit future teachers, which will be administered by the Humboldt Area Foundation. Recipients will receive $500 and be honored at the Epsilon Pi Chapter’s annual initiation event.These scholarships will be awarded to people with plans to become teachers who have been accepted at Humboldt State University for their fifth or final year of a credential program, or into the Liberal Studies Elementary Education (LSEE) integrated program, and who have a record of school and/or community service.Eligibility based on: 1. Plans to enter the teaching profession2. Acceptance into the fifth or final year of a credential program or the Liberal Studies Elementary Education (LSEE) integrated program at H.S.U.3. School and/or community service

Bruce A. Sering Scholarship

Eligibility: * Awarded to members of the IU Student Foundation. * Preference will be given to students majoring in education and planning to be teachers.

June Longworth Hardy Scholarship

Recipients must be a member of Alpha Iota/Washington University in St. Louis (D) or a member of Theta who is majoring in elementary or secondary education in the Midwest. (Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, Minnesota, South Dakota, North Dakota, Missouri.)
