Criminal Justice Scholarships

The progress of women in the last century has dramatically increased the opportunities available to women, yet women's participation in positions of public influence continues to lag behind. Although women account for nearly 50 percent of the workforce, they hold on average just 20.3 percent of seats in the world's national parliaments as of 31 December 2012, according to the Inter-Parliamentary Union. Zonta International believes young women are the key to women's advancement in the field of public service. The Young Women in Public Affairs (YWPA) Awards program recognizes young women for their demonstrated leadership skills and commitment to public service and civic causes and encourages them to continue their participation in public and political life. Since the program's inception, Zonta has given 637 awards to 565 young women from 50 countries.

The Herold and Retta Reuss Public Safety Scholarship is awarded to one or more Marshall High School or Marshall Alternative High School graduates, previous recipients or Marshall area residents who are pursuing a career in the Criminal Justice, Emergency Medical Services, or other related fields, such as but not limited to, Fireman, Policeman, Legal Secretary or Dispatcher. Qualifying applicants must demonstrate the drive and ability to be successful in pursuing a college education and/or a certification process in the fields aforementioned. Financial need may be a deciding factor. MinimumGPA not required.Students must complete the application for scholarships administered by the Marshall Community Foundation. Through the Ritchie-Jennings Memorial Scholarship Program, the ACFE Foundation supports the education of collegiate accounting and criminal justice students around the globe. ELIGIBILITY ACFE Foundation scholarships are open to U.S. and International students. The Scholarships are U.S. $1,000 and include a one-year ACFE Student Associate membership. Scholarships will be paid directly to the student’s university. To be eligible the applicant must be an undergraduate or graduate student, currently enrolled full-time (9 semester hours undergraduate; 6 semester hours post-graduate, or equivalent per term) at an accredited four-year college or university (or equivalent) with a declared major or minor in accounting, business, finance, or criminal justice. The following persons are not eligible for the Ritchie-Jennings Memorial Scholarship: * Past winners of the scholarship * Junior college, community college, and high school students (including graduating seniors) * Students who are related to any officer, director, or substantial contributor of the ACFE Foundation, or to any member of the ACFE Foundation Scholarship Committee

The Imagine America Foundation created its Imagine America High School Scholarship Program in 1998 to help provide scholarships for high school students. This annual scholarship program has helped thousands of high school seniors afford a career education at hundreds of career schools across the United States. Each year, every high school in the United States and Puerto Rico may nominate up to five graduating seniors to receive a $1,000 Imagine America scholarship!

For a degree in a Police-related or Governmental Administration program, at any of the following graduate schools: Brown University, Columbia University, Harvard University, Georgetown University, New York University, Princeton University, University of Pennsylvania, and Yale University.

For the State University of New York School of Criminal Justice is awarded annually in honor of the founding Trustee of the Police Foundation.

Given to support the training of a New York City Police Officer with the Tel Aviv police force for one year. Max Anteles was a NYPD Sergeant with the Motorcycle Squad #2 until he and his wife, Ruth, died in a bus accident in 1947. The Fellowship is given in their honor by their grandchildren.

Special Qualifications: • Recipient must be entering the military or a career in public service (education, firefighter, police officer, nursing, etc.).Other Requirements: • Recipient will also receive a scholarship medal of honor.

Two merit-based awards are conferred. Each consists of a $500 one-time scholarship. The recognition will be presented at the national law enforcement Explorer conference or at a local ceremony. Candidates will be evaluated on the basis of their academic record, leadership ability, extracurricular activities, and a personal statement on "What significance I place on a technical background in law enforcement."
