ISF-MCA Scholarship

ISF supports Islamic organizations and mosques by planning and managing joint scholarships. ISF is honored to host the ISF-MCA Scholarship of the Muslim Community Association of the Bay Area, MCA. The ISF-MCA Scholarship program is only open to members and individuals affiliated with the MCA. Description and Eligibility: ISF accepts online applications once a year starting in December for a period of three months. Each Eligible Applicant Must Be: Muslim and active member of the Muslim Community; Attending an accredited university in the U.S.; Majoring in an ISF supported field of study; Maintaining a minimum 3.0 Grade Point Average; A Citizen or Permanent Resident of the U.S.; An undergraduate (junior/senior) or of graduate standing.

ISF-Yaseen Foundation Scholarship

ISF supports Islamic organizations and mosques by planning and managing joint scholarships. ISF is honored to host the ISF-Yaseen Foundation scholarship. The ISF-Yaseen Foundation Scholarship program is only open to members and individuals affiliated with the this center. Description and Eligibility: ISF accepts online applications once a year starting in December for a period of three months. The ISF-SBIA Scholarship program is only open to members and individuals affiliated with this center. Description and Eligibility: ISF accepts online applications once a year starting in December for a period of three months. The ISF-SoCal Shura Council Scholarship is only open to members and individuals affiliated with this organization. ISF-Syed Ibrahim Memorial Scholarship For Greater Boston

ISF is pleased to expand its activities to the Greater Boston Region through the ISF-Syed Ibrahim Memorial Scholarship initiated by the Syed family in memory of Syed Ibrahim. This scholarship is open to local residents of the Greater Boston region who upon graduation will remain or return to the region to play a prominent role in their local community through their activism and leadership, developing visionary ideas for the future of their community. In addition, ISF encourages its scholarship recipients to fulfill a volunteer service obligation through relevant internship programs within one year of receiving a scholarship under the direct supervision of ISF and its regional Strategic Partner the Islamic Society Boston Cultural Center, ISBCC. AFSCME/UNCF/Harvard University LWP Union Scholars Program

The future is in the hands of those with the ability and desire to change the world. People like you. That is why we are co-sponsoring the AFSCME/UNCF/Harvard University LWP Union Scholars Program. The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), has joined with Harvard University and UNCF to let those of you who qualify experience what it is like to be part of the labor movement. You can work on the front lines of a real union organizing campaign, where you will talk to workers about gaining a voice on the job, fair wages and benefits for themselves and their families ...by joining a union. You will get an opportunity to do the day-to-day work of outreach to workers by phone and on home visits, campaign research and material development. But the best part is that you will have a chance to make a difference in the lives of people. Plus, you will receive scholarship funding as well as have a real world experience that may help you see what lies in your future. Valid Driver's License required. Catherine W. Pierce Scholarship

Catherine W. Pierce scholarship was established to support students who are majoring in disciplines within the Arts and/or History. Mrs. Pierce had a great interest in helping deserving students pursue the fields of Art or History. The award amount is up to $5,000. King Olav V Norwegian-American Heritage Fund

Any American, 18 years of age or older, who has demonstrated a keen and sincere interest in Norwegian heritage and/or any Norwegian, 18 years of age or older, who has demonstrated an interest in American heritage, and who now desires to further the study of their heritages at a recognized educational institution (arts, crafts, literature, history, music, folklore, etc.) is eligible to apply for a scholarship. HOW ARE THE WINNERS SELECTED? Final selection of the scholarship winners will be made by a scholarship committee appointed by the President of the Sons of Norway Foundation. Notification of the award will be made within 10 weeks of deadline. Award decisions are based upon the following criteria. CRITERIA • Essay • Academic potential/grade transcripts (ACT/SAT) • Benefit to Sons of Norway and wider Norwegian/American community • Involvement in school and community activities • Two letters of recommendation • Financial need HOW DO I APPLY? Online at www.sofn.com/foundation/scholarships. While filling in the online form, the applicant will be asked to write an essay, setting forth in 500 words or less how this cross-cultural study will enhance your current field of study and/or career choices and how you will share this experience with Sons of Norway or wider audiences. Applicants should also state how their course of study will benefit their community and be in accord with the goals and objectives of the Sons of Norway Foundation: • Promote Improved International Relationships • Provide People-to-People Enrichment Programs • Promote Culture Exchange • Promote Humanitarian Causes Two letters of recommendation, describing the character and abilities of the applicant, must be emailed from the original source to scholarship@sofn.com by the application deadline. Finally, applicants must submit an “official copy” of their latest high school or college grade transcript. HOW MUCH IS THE AWARD? The Sons of Norway Foundation Scholarship Committee will determine each year the number of scholarships to be awarded. The range is typically $1,000-$1,500. A student may be awarded a maximum of two scholarships within a five-year period.
