Laymon H. & Ruth S. Lantz Scholarship
This scholarship fund is intended to support qualified graduate students in either the seminary or the Master of Arts in Counseling at Eastern Mennonite University. Eligibility 1. An eligible student must be a candidate for graduation at the end of the current academic year, and plan to enroll in Seminary or the Master of Arts in Counseling program at Eastern Mennonite University the following academic year, OR a currently enrolled graduate student in either the Seminary or Master of Arts in Counseling program who will be continuing their graduate training during the following academic year. 2. An eligible student must desire to pursue a degree in Seminary or the Master of Arts in Counseling program or related field. 3. An eligible student must have a demonstrated financial need. 4. An eligible student, while not necessarily a top academic performer, must demonstrate a commitment to furthering their education for the purpose of becoming a productive member of the community. How to Apply: If a student meets the preceding eligibility criteria, the applicant must submit: (1) the Laymon H. & Ruth S. Lantz Scholarship Application form; (2) a letter to the Scholarship Selection Committee outlining future goals including interest in pursuing a degree in Seminary or the Master of Arts in Counseling program, and an essay speaking to need and career aspirations; (3) a letter of recommendation from a faculty member; (4) an undergraduate transcript (or graduate transcript if currently enrolled in either program); (5) a list of extracurricular activities and involvement in community service activities; and (6) any other information which might be helpful to the scholarship committee. How Winners are Chosen Advisors to the Laymon H. & Ruth S. Lantz Scholarship at The Community Foundation will review the materials submitted and select a recipient or recipients for the Laymon H. & Ruth S. Lantz Scholarship based on the following criteria: 1. Future goals, to include a statement of their reasons for pursuing a degree in Seminary or the Master of Arts in Counseling program or related field; 2. Demonstrated financial need; 3.
