NEWH Sunshine Chapter Scholarship

Qualifications:  Must be a currently enrolled student attending an accredited college in Northern Florida or Mississippi  Must have completed half the requirements for a degree or certification in the program you are currently enrolled  Must show financial need and have eligible outstanding debt for tuition, books or supplies at time of scholarship award  Must have a 3.0 GPA  Must have a career objective in one of the areas of the Hospitality Industry (i.e., Hotel/Restaurant Management, Culinary/Foodservice, Architecture, Interior Design, etc.) Additional requirements must be included with your application:  Student essay, to include: o Background of yourself and your experience o Your goals and objectives after graduation o What prompted you to choose this career o Do you feel you made a contribution to your school program or fellow students through leadership or participation o Why is obtaining this scholarship important to you o If your application is not accepted, what plans do you have for financing  Official Transcript  Letters of recommendation from Professor, advisor and/or department head  Letters from industry professionals, employers, etc. Submit by email: Josh.altenbach@outlook.com Mailing address for transcripts/reference letters: Josh Altenbach 975 Lake Front Ln. Green Law Firm Nursing Home & Elderly Care

Attorney Bill Green and his team at Green Law Firm are committed to improving the quality of care in nursing homes. With over 26 years of experience serving the community and many years fighting against low standards of elderly care, Bill is dedicated to promoting passionate students who are focused on making care homes a ‘home’ for our senior population. We are pleased to be offering a $1500 nursing scholarship to high-achieving students who are committed to elderly care and pursuing a baccalaureate degree in nursing. Our hope is to further their professional development and continued competence, allowing them to improve the quality of life for seniors at nursing homes. Applicants will be judged on the content of their application, the essay they provide and on their academic merits. Future Mechanic Grant

Trade School Future is an organization dedicated to helping future mechanics reach their full potential. Our country needs skilled automotive workers and we want to help. Each semester, we’ll be awarding grants of various amounts to students who plan on attending a trade or vocational school with the aim of becoming a mechanic. This scholarship is open to any prospective student in the United States who plans to enroll in a trade or vocational school, 2 or 4 year university, accredited community college or other automotive higher education institution within the next 12 months. The applicant must complete a short essay (500 words or less) detailing why they are pursuing an automotive degree. The applicant must provide a phone number and email address for correspondence about the grant award selection process. The Future Mechanic Grant for the Fall/Winter Semester is a one-time financial gift of $1,000. The grant will be awarded to the applicant who best answers the application criteria, including the short essay. The award funds may be applied to any expenses associated with pursuing an automotive degree or certification. This is a one-time financial gift and does not need to be paid back to Trade School Future.

Drone Technology College Scholarship

The Drone Technology College Scholarship will be awarded to current U.S. college or university undergraduates who demonstrate an interest in pushing the drone industry forward, as demonstrated in an essay of 750-1,000 words. Successful applicants will write thorough, thoughtful essays that dive deeply into the topic, and will have a strong letter of support. Two awards of $1,000 each will be given.

Tripz.com Vacation Rental Community Scholarship

Tripz.com is offering up to $1,000 Scholarship for students that can best exemplify in an essay how tourism positively impacts their community and what attracts travelers to the communities local sights, sounds and experiences.

Jimmy Rane Foundation Scholarships

The eligibility criteria to be considered for a Jimmy Rane Foundation Scholarship are as follows: Students enrolled full-time as a high school senior, progressing normally toward graduation in the Spring/Summer, with plans to enter college no later than the Fall following graduation OR students enrolled full-time as a college freshman or sophomore, no older than 20 years of age and progressing normally toward a bachelor’s degree; Scholarships from the Foundation shall be used only at an institution that normally maintains a regular faculty and curriculum, and normally has a regularly organized body of students in attendance at the place where the educational activities are carried on, and that is listed by the U.S. Department of Education as being accredited by recognized accrediting agencies; Students seeking degrees through online or distance learning programs exclusively shall not be eligible for Jimmy Rane Foundation Scholarships;* A minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 for graduating high school seniors; A minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.75 for college applicants; U.S. citizenship or permanent resident; All applicants must reside (permanent home address) in one of the following states and the District of Columbia: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, South Carolina, Tennessee, Louisiana, Texas, North Carolina, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York, Delaware and New Jersey. Employees of Great Southern Wood Preserving, Incorporated, its parent, affiliates, subsidiaries, and their immediate family members and/or those living in the same household of each are not eligible. Online/distance learning courses are permitted when a part of the required curriculum taught in the campus environment and when such course is only available online or through distance learning. Jimmy Rane Foundation scholars are students who exhibit academic excellence, leadership skills and community involvement as well as activities, awards and honors, and who have a demonstrated financial need in order to attend college. They must demonstrate their desire and ability to overcome barriers and to achieve their goals. Your application will be evaluated on your: Future goals and plans to achieve them; Successful preparation as a high school student to prepare and pursue a college education; Self motivation in completing challenging coursework; Demonstration of financial need.

Swayze Woodruff Memorial Mid-South Scholarship

$8,000 four-year scholarship Ideal candidates have been a member of AQHA or AQHYA for at least one year who is from Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi or Tennessee, and who competes in AQHA-approved shows. Member must apply during their senior year of high school or while enrolled at an accredited college or university. Recipient must maintain a minimum cumulative 2.5 grade point average. Current or previous AQHF scholarship recipients are not eligible to receive this scholarship. Funding for this scholarship will be applied to a four-year undergraduate degree program of the student's choice.

Empowering Women In Law Scholarship

The Pearce Law Firm in Philadelphia is pleased to offer The Pearce Law Firm – Empowering Women In Law Scholarship. This scholarship opportunity is open to women nationwide who are currently attending a law school in the United States. This scholarship is intended to encourage & support outstanding achievement & leadership by example from women in the field of law. This award will be presented to a current female law student for the following academic year in the amount of $2,000.00 & will be paid at the beginning of the fall semester (2015). Requirements: This scholarship is judged & awarded primarily on academic achievement, school & community activities, demonstrated leadership abilities & financial need. The scholarship must be submitted, in full, by December 31, 2014. LATE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED. INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED. The applicant must be a current female law student. Applicant will have successfully completed at least one semester of law school but will not yet have graduated by fall semester of 2015. Must have a minimum G.P.A. of 3.0. A transcript must be attached for application to be considered. An unopened copy of transcripts, sent from the applicant’s most recent law school will be required from finalists before award is presented. This scholarship is a one-time award worth $2,000. Although not required, applicants are encouraged to submit recommendation letters and/or resumes to substantiate their application.

AL/MS Section AWWA Scholarships

For Individuals Interested in Pursuing Careers in the Water Works Industry in Alabama and Mississippi The Alabama/Mississippi Section of the American Water Works Association can help! Complete scholarship applications by February 1 and direct to Mr. Jim Miller. Each applicant must complete and submit the following: 1. Official Application Form (check website for the Application Form) 2. Resume (that includes educational, licensure, and experience) 3. Personal Statement 4. Letter of Support or recommendation from the sponsoring utility,individual member or academic advisor 5. Academic applicants only, transcripts of education and proof of student status For individuals pursuing advanced licensure or training in the water works (science) field. - Sponsored by an AL-MS AWWA Water Utility Member (Up to 3 awarded + $1,000 upon completion & employed within the section) For individuals pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in the water works (science) field. - Graduate Level (Up to 3 awarded + $1,000 upon completion & employed within the section) - Undergraduate Level (Up to 3 awarded + $1,000 upon completion & employed within the section)
